A contractor delivering projects across the healthcare, commercial and care sectors is looking to appoint a Design Manager to support both pre-construction and live project delivery.
The role sits across a number of schemes currently in early-stage design development as well as projects moving through construction, requiring someone comfortable operating between pre-construction coordination and site-based design management.
One of the initial projects involves stepping in to support the delivery of a scheme in Surrey that is being taken over from a contractor that has recently gone into administration, requiring strong coordination and practical design management.
The Role
- Design management across pre-construction and live construction projects
• Supporting design development, coordination and buildability from early stages through delivery
• Managing consultant teams and subcontractor design packages
• Chairing design meetings and coordinating design information with project teams
• Supporting projects across Surrey, Kent and occasionally East Anglia
• Working between site and office environments

- Design Manager with contractor-side experience
• Strong pre-construction design coordination experience
• Comfortable supporting projects through both design development and live site delivery
• Experience managing consultants, technical design issues and buildability reviews
• Able to work flexibly between office, site and project teams
The Projects
The business delivers projects across:
- Healthcare
• Commercial buildings
• Care homes
Residential projects are occasional, typically one or two schemes per year, with most work focused on institutional and public-facing buildings.
Location
The role will operate from either the Central London or Colchester office, with travel to project sites across Surrey, Kent and East Anglia.
Package
- Salary up to £85,000
• Full package including benefits
