“Can someone just…” - the unofficial start of every Working Foreman’s day.
If you’re the kind of person who can:
Tell a team what to do. Then roll your sleeves up and show them how it’s done. And still somehow keep the programme moving…
…you’ll fit right in.
This contractor (small, family feel, long-standing, super-friendly) is due to start working on two high-end residential projects in London:
St James’s (think Listed building. 6 luxury apartments. Strip-out complete, now moving into the next phase)
Fulham (High-end property refurbishment - starting end of April)
What you’ll actually be doing:
- Running day-to-day site operations (and occasionally running around after them)
- Coordinating trades, programme, and quality
- Keeping things moving when everyone else has “just one quick question”
- Telling people what to do… and then doing it yourself when needed
- Making sure what gets built matches what was actually drawn (on a good day)
- Fixing issues before they become problems
- Running the site… and sometimes the tools
- Basically, a bit of everything. And yes - you will be asked questions while clearly holding a level.
- Strong carpentry background (you’ve probably built more than a few things yourself)
- Experience on high-end residential projects
- Confident managing trades and leading from the front
- A proper eye for detail -if it’s not right, it’s not right
- Someone who can say “no” without starting a war on site
- Taking ownership. Being on the tools and in charge. Seeing a project through properly…
